"We drift fished with worm harness (the best way to walleye fish imo). Took a long trip up to Canadian Waters's to find the walleye and caught fish all day. Great weather, trip, and captain!" - Scott
"A great day to be on the water. A bad day for fishing! Our fishing captain worked hard to find fish. Unfortunately...the conditions were the worst for fishing. No fault of our fishing captain...just one of those days when conditions and fish did not cooperate. Still recommend this charter service." - Craig
Walleye is the star of the show on Lake Erie, and for good reason. These golden-eyed predators are known for their tasty white flesh and the fight they put up on the line. Walleye in Erie can grow to impressive sizes, with trophy fish over 10 pounds not uncommon. They tend to school in deeper water during the day, moving to shallower areas to feed in low light conditions. This behavior makes our early morning or late afternoon charters prime time for landing these prized fish.
While we're targeting walleye, don't be surprised if you hook into some other Lake Erie favorites. Yellow perch often share similar habitats and can provide some fast-paced action when we find a school. These smaller cousins of the walleye are delicious in their own right and can really fill out a fish fry. Smallmouth bass are another possibility, especially if we're fishing near structure. Known as "bronzebacks," these fish are pound-for-pound some of the hardest fighting freshwater fish you'll encounter.
Depending on the season, we might also come across some steelhead trout. These acrobatic fighters are a blast to catch and can reach sizes of 5-10 pounds in Lake Erie. They're most active in the cooler months but can surprise us year-round. Steelhead are known for their spectacular jumps and blistering runs, so be ready if one takes your bait!

Walleye are the crown jewel of Lake Erie fishing. These golden-olive predators typically run 15-25 inches and put up a great fight. You'll find them hanging around rocky structures and drop-offs, usually in 15-30 feet of water. Spring and fall are prime walleye seasons, but summer nights can be hot too. Folks love targeting walleye for their sporty nature and excellent table fare - there's nothing quite like fresh walleye for dinner. To boost your odds, try slow-trolling with nightcrawler harnesses near the bottom. When the bite's on, it's not uncommon to limit out quickly. Just remember, walleye have keen eyesight in low light, so dawn and dusk are often the magic hours. If you're after a trophy, focus on the big females that cruise shallow in spring. Whatever your skill level, landing a chunky walleye is always a thrill.
