Ready to hit the water for some serious walleye action? Irish Charters has you covered with our 4- to 7-hour trips out of Port Clinton. We're talking prime Lake Erie fishing grounds, where the walleye are plentiful and the catches are memorable. Whether you're new to fishing or you've been casting lines for years, our trips are designed to get you on the fish and send you home with a cooler full of fillets.
When you step aboard our Sport-Craft boat, you're in for a treat. We've got all the gear you need, from rods and reels to the latest fish-finding tech. Our seasoned captain knows these waters like the back of his hand, so you'll be heading straight to where the walleye are biting. The Lake Erie chop can kick up, but our boat's built to handle it, keeping you comfortable while we chase the big ones. Expect a mix of trolling and casting, depending on what the fish are doing that day. And don't worry if you're green - we'll show you the ropes and have you reeling them in like a pro in no time.
Out here on Erie, we're all about adapting to what works. Some days, it's all about trolling with crawler harnesses or deep-diving crankbaits. Other times, we might be vertical jigging over schools we spot on the fish finder. We'll likely be using planer boards to spread our lines and cover more water. It's a bit like playing chess with the fish, and we'll teach you how to read the water, watch the rods, and know when it's time to grab that net. By the end of the trip, you'll be talking about bottom bounces and snap weights like you've been doing it for years.

"This was our first fishing charter and couldn't have been more pleased. Captain Chris was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and fun! He taught us the best way to fish and coached us through each step. After the trip, he cleaned our fish (quite quickly!) and even bagged them up for us. Would highly recommend Irish Charters!" - Amanda
Walleye are the crown jewels of Lake Erie, and for good reason. These golden-eyed predators are crafty, putting up a fight that'll have your arms aching in the best way possible. They average around 2-5 pounds, but don't be surprised if you hook into a 10-pounder - they're out there, and they're hungry. Spring and fall are peak seasons, but summer can be red hot too. We target them year-round because, let's face it, there's never a bad time to catch walleye.
What makes Erie walleye so special? It's all about the ecosystem. The lake's shallow western basin is like a buffet for these fish, packed with baitfish and perfect spawning grounds. This means we've got one of the healthiest walleye populations in the world right in our backyard. When you're reeling one in, watch for that signature head shake - it's like they're trying to spit the hook right back at you.
And let's not forget about the taste. Lake Erie walleye are known for their clean, mild flavor. There's a reason they call it "white gold." Whether you like them battered and fried or baked with lemon, you're in for a treat when you get these babies home.
Look, fishing Lake Erie for walleye isn't just a trip - it's an experience you'll be talking about long after you've polished off the last fillet. With Irish Charters, you're not just paying for a boat ride; you're getting local knowledge, top-notch gear, and a captain who's as invested in your catch as you are. We've got room for up to 6 people, so bring your buddies or make it a family day out.
Remember, the best days fill up fast, especially during peak season. And while we can't control the weather or make the fish bite, we can promise you this: we'll work our tails off to put you on the fish and make sure you have a blast doing it. So what are you waiting for? Grab your spot on the boat, and let's go chase some Erie gold. Trust me, once you feel that first walleye hit, you'll be hooked for life. See you on the water!

We had a wonderful day fishing. We are all beginners and Chris wait patient with all of us. He took time to teach us how to cast properly and taught us about the different ways to fish based on the season. We caught Walleye while out there and cooked it up for our dinner that night! We would definitely book again with Chris!

Walleye are the bread and butter of Lake Erie fishing. These golden-olive predators typically run 15-25 inches, with trophy fish pushing 30 inches and 10+ pounds. They're structure-oriented, hanging around rocky points, drop-offs, and weed edges in 15-30 foot depths. Spring and fall are prime, but summer night fishing can be red hot too. Walleye put up a solid fight, but the real draw is their fantastic table fare – mild, flaky fillets that are hard to beat. To boost your odds, try slow-trolling with nightcrawler harnesses near the bottom. When you feel that telltale tap-tap, let 'em run for a few seconds before setting the hook. The walleye's reflective eyes help them feed in low light, so don't be afraid to fish early or late for the best action. Whether you're after a limit for the fryer or that fish of a lifetime, our Erie walleye won't disappoint.
